Who we are
Misal is developed by Nuriye Sultan Kostak; its website is getmisal.com. When we say "we" here, that's who we mean. Questions? Write to support@getmisal.com.
What stays on your phone
The following is stored only on your phone, in Misal's own folder. It never reaches us and we can't see it:
- your dreams, feelings, notes and readings,
- your voice recordings and notebook photos,
- life events you add,
- your name, hometown, birth date, time and city, if you enter them,
- your reminder times and settings.
If iCloud Backup is on, this data may be included in your Apple backup, under Apple's terms.
What is sent when you ask for a reading
Readings are written by an AI model. We tell you this and ask for your permission before your first reading; you can withdraw it in Settings at any time. When you ask for a reading, our server passes the following to the model:
- the text of the dream and the feelings you chose,
- from your past dreams, only titles, dates, motifs and themes (not the text),
- events you added close to that date,
- your chosen guides, reading tone and your name, so it can address you.
Once the reading is back on your phone, the request is not stored on our server. Our model provider, Anthropic, does not use this data to train models and may keep it for a limited time to monitor misuse. Dreams marked "only for me" are never sent for a reading, nor included in the past-dreams list.
The same path is used to pick out themes, people and places from a dream, tidy up text, split imported dreams, and write the story in Meaning and your period readings.
Voice, photos and cover images
When you ask to turn a voice note or notebook photo into text, the file goes through our server to Cloudflare's AI service. Once the text is back, the file isn't kept there; the original stays on your phone. A dream's collage image is made from a short, anonymous scene description, and people's names are left out.
Importing old dreams
Files from WhatsApp or Notes are opened on your phone. If a chat has several people, only the sender you choose is imported and other people's messages are left alone. To separate dreams, the text may go through our server to the model; it isn't stored there either.
The only thing we keep
If you send feedback from the app, we keep what you wrote, your rating, the app version and the screen you wrote from, and add nothing that identifies you. If you email us, we use your address only to reply. getmisal.com uses no cookies and doesn't track visitors. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google can see the IP address of the browser that opens the page.
What we don't use
- ads or advertising identifiers,
- analytics that follow you across apps,
- location (you type your birth city yourself, if you want to),
- your contacts; your camera and microphone only turn on when you start a recording.
We never sell or rent your data.
Payments
Subscriptions are bought through Apple. Your card details never reach us; we only see whether your subscription is active.
Your rights
You can export or delete your journal from Settings whenever you like, and both are free. Deleting the app also deletes all your data on the phone. For access, correction or deletion requests under the GDPR or Turkey's data protection law (KVKK), write to support@getmisal.com. We reply within 30 days.
Age and changes
Misal is designed for people aged 17 and over. When we change this policy we update the date above and mention important changes inside the app.
